Welcome to my Blacksmithing  guide ! Discover the fastest and most cost-effective way to level your Blacksmithing all the way to 450. Before venturing further, it is highly advisable to take up Mining as your second profession as both of them go hand in hand, unless of course you are prepared to shell out a lot of gold to procure the materials from the Auction House. Be warned though, upping your Blacksmithing is a huge drain on your funds, and perseverance is key if you’re gonna reach the end. That’s when the rewards will really start showing. So stick in there, alright !

Be sure to check out the Mining Guide too, if you plan to pursue both these professions. They work hand in hand, but its fine if you’d rather learn another profession.

Alright, first things first. Visit any trainer in the Main Cities of Azeroth to learn Apprentice Blacksmithing. For directions to the trainers just ask a guard.

Apprentice Blacksmithing.

Levels 1-75

1-35

• 35-40 Rough Sharpening Stones. Materials required – 35-40 Rough Stones

35-65

• 35-45 Rough Grinding Stones.  Materials required – 70-80 Rough Stones. (Keep around 20 of these in your bags for future use.)

65-75

• 10 Copper Chain Belts. Materials required – 60 Copper Bars.

Proceed to learn Journeyman Blacksmithing.

75-90

• 50 Coarse Grinding Stones. Materials required – 100 Coarse Stones.( Keep these for future use. Yes, I’m aware they turn green at level 87.)

90-100

• 10 Runed Copper Belts. Materials required – 100 Copper.

100-110

• 10-12 Silver Rods. Materials required – 10-12 Silver Bars & 18-20 Rough Grinding Stones.

110-125

• 15 Rough Bronze Shoulders. Materials required – 75 Bronze Bars & 15 Coarse Grinding Stones.

At this juncture, learn Blacksmithing Expert.

125-150

• 50 Heavy Grinding Stones. Materials required – 150 Heavy Stone

150-155

• 5 Golden Rods. Materials required – 5 Gold Bar. 10 Coarse Grinding Stone

155-165

• 10 Green Iron Leggings. Materials required – 80 Iron Bar, 10 Heavy Grinding Stone, 10 Green Dye

165-190

• 25 Green Iron Bracers. Materials required. – 150 Iron Bar, 25 Green Dye

190-200

• 10 Golden Scale Bracers. Materials required – 50 Steel Bar, 20 Heavy Grinding Stone.

At skill level 200 and character level 40, Blacksmiths can choose to specialize as an Armorsmith or a Weaponsmith. Weaponsmiths can later further specialize into Hammer-, Axe- or Swordsmiths. All specialized armor and weapons are Bind on Pickup and can only be used by the blacksmith that made them. Most specialization recipes require difficult components, such as Primal Mights, Primal Nethers, and Nether Vortexes. 200-205

• 5 Truesilver Rod. Materials required – 5 Truesilver Bar, 5 Heavy Grinding Stone

205-210

• 15 Solid Grinding Stones. Materials required – 60 Solid Stone. Save these for future use.

210-225

• 15   Heavy Mithril Gauntlet. Materials required- 90 Mithril Bar, 60 Mageweave Cloth

225-235

• 10 Mithril Scale Bracers. Materials required – 80 Mithril Bar. This recipe is sold by the NPC’s Harggan   in the Hinterlands for Alliance and Gharash in the Swamp of Sorrows for Horde.

In the alternative, you can make more Heavy Mithril Gauntlets instead.

• 10-15 Heavy Mithril Gauntlet. Materials required – 90-100 Mithril Bars, 60 Mageweave Cloth.

235-250

• 15 Mithril Coif. Materials required – 150 Mithril Bar, 90 Mageweave Cloth

If you can buy the recipe for Mithril Spurs cheap off the AH, get those instead, they are considerably cheaper to craft.

250-260

• 30-40 Dense Sharpening Stones. Materials required – 30-40 Dense Stone.

Althought they turn green at level 257, you are encouraged to persevere till 260 as they are by far the cheapest option available.

260-275

• 15 Thorium Bracers. Materials required – 120 Thorium Bar

Upon reaching Level 275, head to the Outlands to learn Blacksmithing Master.

275-290

• 15 Imperial Plate Bracers. Materials required – 180 Thorium Bar.

This recipe a reward upon completion of a quest. All you need to do is bring 10 Thorium Bars to Derotain Mudsipper in Gadgetzan to learn this recipe.

290- 300

• 10 Thorium Boots. Materials required -120 Thorium Bar, 80 Rugged Leather

In the alternative,

• 10 Thorium Helm. Materials required – 120 Thorium Bar, 10 Star Ruby

Before you can continue leveling past 300 you need to visit one of the following Master Blacksmithing Trainers:

• Alliance: Humphry <Master Blacksmithing Trainer> Honor Hold
• Horde: Rohok <Master Blacksmithing Trainer> Thrallmar

Moving on,

300-305

• 10 x Fel Weightstone. Materials Required – 10 Fel Iron Bar, 10 Netherweave Cloth

305-315

• 10 x Fel Iron Plate Belt. Materials required – 40 Fel Iron Bar

315-320

• 5 x Fel Iron Chain Gloves. Materials required – 25 Fel Iron Bar

320 -325

• 5 Fel Iron Plate Boots. Materials required- 30 Fel Iron Bar

325-330

• 10-20 Lesser Rune of Warding. Materials required – 10-20 Adamantite Bar

330-335

• 5 Fel Iron Breastplate. Materials required – 50 Fel Iron Bar

335-340

• 5 Adamantite Cleaver. Materials required- 40 Adamantite Bar

Get the recipe from the following NPC’s.

• Aaron Hollman Shattrath City – Southern Lower City
• Eriden (Horde) Silvermoon City  – Farstriders Square
• Arras The Exodar -Trader’s Tier

340-350

• 35 Lesser Ward of Shielding. Materials required – 35 Adamantite Bar

Purchase this recipe from the following NPC’s

• Mari Stonehand of the Alliance located at Warhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley
• Rohok for the Horde at Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula

To continue leveling to 450 you need to be at least level 60 and have level 350 Blacksmithing. Head to one of the following Grand Master Blacksmithing Trainers:

• Alard Schmied Dalaran, Magus Commerce Exchange
• Alliance: Argo Strongstout Valiance Keep, Borean Tundra
• Horde: Crog Steelspine Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra
• Alliance: Rosina Rivet Valgarde, Howling Fjord
• Horde: Kristen Smythe Vengeance Landing, Howling Fjord

350-360

• 10 Cobalt Boots. Materials required – 40 Cobalt Bars

360-370

• 10 Cobalt Triangle Shield. Materials required- 40 Cobalt Bars

370-375

• 5 Cobalt Legplates. Materials required – 25 Cobalt Bars

375-380

• 5 Cobalt Gauntlets. Materials required – 25 Cobalt Bars

380-385

• 5 Spiked Cobalt Boots. Materials required – 35 Cobalt Bars

385-390

• 5 Sure-Fire Shuriken. Materials required – 35 Cobalt Bars

390-395

• 5 Notched Cobalt War Axe. Materials required – 50 Cobalt Bars

395-400

• 5 Brilliant Saronite Belt OR 5 Tempered Saronite Belt.  Materials Required – 50 Cobalt Bars, 25 Saronite Bars

400-405

• 5 Horned Cobalt Helm. Materials required- 40 Cobalt Bars

405-415

• 10 Deadly Saronite Dirks. Materials required – 70 Saronite Bar, 20 Crystallized Air

415-425

• 13-15 Eternal Belt Buckle. Materials required – 40-60 Saronite Bars, 13-15 Eternal Earth, 13-15 Eternal Water, 13-15 Eternal Shadow. You should make this till you reach 425 and sell them at the AH. You should recover most of your initial gold investment as this is a rather hot item.

425-430

• 7 Titanium Weapon Chain. Materials required – 14 Saronite Bar, 7 Titanium Bar

These items can also be sold at the Auction House.

430-440

• 10-15 Titanium Skeleton Keys. Materials required – 40-60 Saronite Bars, 10-15 Titanium Bars.

440-450

• 15-25 Ornate Saronite Hauberk. Materials required – 210-350 Saronite Bars, 15-25 Eternal Earth

In the alternative, you may consider

• 15-25 Daunting Legplates. Materials required – 210-350 Saronite Bars, 15-25 Eternal Earth
