Note: Elwynn Forest is pretty small for a starting zone, so it’s easy enough for most Alliance characters. Horde players however should watch out for the Tower of Azora, Forest’s Edge, Goldshire, and Stormwind City, all of which are home to a number of Alliance NPCs and roving quest completers. You’ll also find that Fargodeep Mine requires you to go up to the entrance of the cave, slightly beyond the point shown on the map.

Guide to Exploring Elwynn Forest

Elwynn Forest is the starting zone for Humans and, while it is very populous due to its easy questing chain, it doesn’t have too many points to worry about for exploration. The big problem when you go to explore Elwynn Forest is that Horde characters need to tiptoe their way around the zone. Most Humans, Dwarves and Gnomes will already have gotten this achievement out of the way.

To get started, you’ll need to come in through Duskwood at the south. From here, start at Ridgepoint Tower (84,79), then go north to Eastvale Logging Camp (81,66), and then northwest until you reach the island of Stone Cairn Lake (73,58). The next point is the Tower of Azora (64,70), and then the Brackwell Pumpkin Patch (69,79). Go northwest from there to Crystal Lake (52,66).

Goldshire (42,65) should be next on your list of points to explore, followed by Forest’s Edge (27,77) and the Fargodeep Mine (38,82). On the southern side of the map, the last point is Jerod’s Landing (48,87).

To finish with the Explore Elwynn Forest achievement, go straight north until you reach Northshire Valley (45,47). Your last point will be Stormwind City (32,48), which is not as hard as some cities to explore for the Horde because of the wide gates and moat which you can eke across to get credit.

Ultimately, when you explore Elwynn Forest, you’ll need to be sure you’re careful of the Alliance camps (if you’re Horde). Otherwise, this is a quick, easy exploration for a starting zone, especially compared to zones like Dun Morogh.
